Hi Dick,

Did you install NCL to /usr/local?

What does the following report:

    gcc --version
    gfortran --verison
    env | grep NCARG
    file /usr/local/lib/libncarg.a

You can try this as a test:

   ncargex agex01 -clean

This will copy a Fortran NCAR Graphics program to your current directory and try to compile and run it.
