Installing ncarg 5.2.1 on CYGWIN

I am trying to install NCARG 5.2.1 on a multicore i686 with hyper threading under CYGWIN 1.7.1 with gfortran. I have tried building the library several times and am I getting multiple errors from make that randomly occur at different points in the make process. An example of some are shown below.

            I have plenty of memory (8 GB), so I'm pretty sure it's not a memory problem. It's almost as if make is tripping all over itself. Have you encountered anything like this before? Is it possibly a problem with make on a multicore system?
