Ictrans and idt graphic windows

When using ictrans or idt to view *.ncgm files on a Linux (CentOS) desktop machine, the plot disappears when temporarily covered by another window and, hence, needs to be refreshed. This behavior greatly annoys my boss who wants me to "fix it". Is there anything that can be done about this? (He notes that this does not happen when displaying the graphic window on his MacBook, even though he is running ictrans on the same Linux machine.)
