Andrea,

For a 3D interpolation using functions from the ngmath library,
dsgrid is the least recommended. Please read the section
"Comparative analysis of the ngmath packages" on three-dimensional
problems at:

   http://ngwww.ucar.edu/ngdoc/ng4.4/ngmath/

The original codes for the recommended packages "Shgrid" and
"Csagrid" are written in Fortran with C wrappers.
