    The config file you sent was not for the xlf compiler but Absoft
    ProFortran which is different. As someone else pointed out, IBM
    develop xlf which Absoft distributes and supports (along with their
    own compiler). Do you have another config file for xlf? It might be
    easier to start with the IBM/AIX file?

    Regarding 10.4 compatibility, I have had no problems compiling with
    xlf and linking with the g77 NCAR Graphics binaries and the g77
    libg2c.a. Note that g77 will not install under 10.4 (using fink) so
    the libg2c.a library needs to be copied from a 10.3 installation of
    g77.

    Still, as I mentioned in my first post, I'd much prefer to do away
    with g77 altogether and be able to compile the NCAR Graphics source
    using xlf.
