NCARG -- the NCAR Graphics package -- is a very powerful set of tools,
and rather than repeat what is on the NCARG website, have a further look
    at: http://ngwww.ucar.edu/ng4.3/index.html

May I suggest that you also look at NCL -- the NCAR Command Language -- a
programming language designed specifically for the access, analysis, and
visualization of data. NCL can be run in interactive mode, where each line
is interpreted as it is entered at your workstation, or it can be run in
batch mode as an interpreter of complete scripts.
Please see http://ngwww.ucar.edu/ncl/ for more in-depth information.

More specifically, NCL can access DODS-served data directly from its
command interface. From there, you can use NCL to manipulate the data, if
desired, and create output in various formats to be served via the web. A
good place to start for NCL is: http://ngwww.ucar.edu/ngdoc/ng/ug/ncl/gsun/toc.html
A DODS-enabled NCL is not currently available for download; please contact
me directly to obtain a copy.
