About the use of NCAR graphics COMMON blocks

Hi all,

Many examples of the NCAR distribution make use of COMMON blocks declared
within
the NCAR library. I am wondering whether this is a recommanded approach,
that is
whether those blocks could be redefined in future releases of the library.
If the answer is
"It's OK for the most popular COMMON blocks", I would like to know which of
the NCAR
blocks are the most popular.
