how to compile example ftex01

I am a new user of NCAR and I am working with the examples available under
ncargex. There is one example I am interested in compiling and running, but
for some reason when I ran "ncargex -ft3x01" if only generated the ftex01.f
fortran source file. It did not compile the file or generate the related ncgm
file. All of the other examples I have been working with did do these steps
automatically, but this one did not. Could someone tell me what command I
should use to compile the example "ftex01.f".
Thanks
Edward
