I assume WRFV1 means the new WRF model.

    See:
    http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/wrf-post.html

If you do not want to use the NCAR Command Language (NCL) (which is based
on NCARG) then you will need to learn how to read netCDF files in FORTRAN.
You'll have to replace your I/O in your old NCARG programs with netCDF
    calls.

    To do this see:
    http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf/index.html

If this doesn't help you may want to contact someone from the WRF project.
