ncargex problem on Sun

Greetings.

I've installed ncargraphics 4.2.2 on a Sun Ultra-60 running Solaris
2.5.1. The install seemed to go fine, but when trying to compile
anything, I get the same error. Here's the output from the ncargex
test example:

% ncargex example

NCAR Graphics Fortran Example <example>

  Copying example.f

Compiling and linking...
f90 -O -o example example.f -L/usr/local/ncarg/lib -L/usr/local/lib
-L/usr/openwin/lib -L/usr/dt/lib -lncarg -lncarg_gks -lncarg_c -lX11 -lXext

Executing <example>...
ld.so.1: ././example: fatal: libXext.so.0: open failed: No such file or directory
Killed

Metafile file is named example.ncgm.

%

libXext.so.0 is in /usr/openwin/lib, and is world readable and executable.
example and example.f are created in the local directory, but example.ncgm
is nowhere to be found.

Anyone seen this before?
